The Spirit’s Voice
“Therefore He says: ‘Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.’” (Eph 5:14)
“No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” (2Tim 2:4)
Oftentimes we wrongly assume that our battles are over when we are no more troubled; when there is no more sickness or disease, when all the bills are settled, when the business is successful, when no one is on our neck mocking and despising us and when everywhere appears to be calm! But that is the real moment we must be prepared to sit up and face the challenge of the so-called ease and peace! Let it be stated categorically clear that we fall into many temptations when the goings are no longer tough, when it is all smiles, when there seems to be applauds of joy, and when all we have mentioned above and many more seem to prevail!
“Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming–in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning– lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mk 13:35-37)
Many Christians today find the physical oppositions and confrontations of life as more real and dangerous threats than such in the realm of the spirit. When the bomb attacks seems to be subsiding; when one is certain about the expertise of the family doctor, advocate, financial adviser, and especially when a spiritualist says ‘it is well’ –the tendency is always the temptation to go for leisure, relaxation, picnic, play games, taking a drink (even when you have not been drinking before), taking a nab which will result into a deep sleep! This is the whisper of deception. We all have many battles to fight as long as we have our being here on earth. For the Christians who understand their callings, the battle field of life does not pose a fright whatsoever! We are already always armed for it, whether in good times or challenging moments! And surely, before our caring heavenly Father, we give thanks and rejoice in all!
“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.” (Lk 21:34)
The information around us tells clearly that the kingdom citizens have no option but to press on and pursue our heavenly representation on earth with extravagant rigor than ever. It should no longer be welcome nor accepted in our midst, seeing the devil making the highest mockery of our Father’s Kingdom. We must rise up to free the house of God from the dread of turning into and remaining the den of robbers perpetually, but allow it become what God had originally intended it to be; the house of prayer for all nations (Is 56:7; Mt 21:13).
Look around you; in the neighborhood, every street and high way, market places and everywhere, you will see the clear reasons for all of us to be constantly battle ready. What is the church’s response to the uncountable beer parlors, brothels, ‘goskolo’ joints, elaborate wine shops; and everywhere, it appears almost everything is going wrong all the time; it is like everyone else is running crazy or out of mind? No wonder, Paul the apostle saw this and declared in 2 Tim 3:1-7 how our nowadays will be. Let us take a close look at verse 7, “…always learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
For us in the Boiling Point Gospel Centre, we have vowed by God’s special grace never to give the devil a breathing space; we must intensify prayer, and continue to make deliberate utterances against every demonic structure that is offensive to the Kingdom of God! In prayer, we freeze the account of wicked transactions and frustrate all satanic enterprises; in fact, we shut down every outfit that does not glorify God. Whose duty is it to stop satan? We owe the world an apology for failing to defend the masses from evil spiritual attacks. Jesus said, that the people are suffering and are scattered as sheep without a shepherd; and that shows that the harvest is truly much but the laborers are few. Our duty is to agonize in PRAYER for the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His harvest! (Mt 9:37-38) We must utterly destroy the activities of darkness with the light of Christ in us or else we will hardly draw people into God’s kingdom. Jesus set an example for us to follow: “…how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Ac 10:38) So, as His true followers we are bound to follow in like manner. We have to welcome the Holy Spirit’s anointing accompanied by power, and get on the move with the goodness mission; healing the sick and deliver all who are right now oppressed by the devil, for God is certainly with us. Emmanuel!
